Under the Taruner Swapna Yojana, every student is entitled to Rs. 10,000 as financial assistance. The scholarship would be awarded as a one-time award, meaning each student would receive it only once. The Taruner Swapno initiative will help students cross the digital divide and access modern education. Students can take online courses and access online educational materials.
The state government of West Bengal provides assistance to students so that they can have their own smartphone or tablet PC. Only Grade 12 students are eligible. However, another clause in the West Bengal Budget 2024-25 said that the scheme will also apply to class 11 students. The West Bengal government has proposed an additional Rs 900 crore for this purpose. Students in government/government aided/aided schools and madrasas are eligible for assistance
Eligibility Criteria for West Bengal Taruner Swapna Scheme
The applicant should be from West Bengal. Applicants must be students. The family of the student enrolling in this scheme should be permanent residents of West Bengal or should have been permanent residents of the State for at least ten years. Only students of Class XI and XII are eligible to apply for this scheme. Students should attend schools affiliated to any of the school boards in West Bengal listed below. The annual household income of the student should not exceed Rs 2 lakh. Only students who have previously taken the exam are eligible to participate
