For the financial year 2023–2024, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Shri M. K. Stalin, said that his administration would launch financial assistance schemes for women in the state.
Nearly 1 lakh women in Tamil Nadu will benefit from the state government’s Universal Basic Income Scheme, thanks to the recently introduced Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme by the Tamil Nadu government which will provide assistance of Rs. 1000 per month, he is given a budget of Rs. 7000 crore by the Tamil Nadu government.
The late Prime Minister C.N. On Annadurai’s birthday, September 15, 2023, online and offline registration for the scheme will begin.

Eligibility Criteria for Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme
The beneficiary must be a permanent resident of Tamil Nadu. Many groups will be covered, including the elderly, the disabled, widows and single women. Only female heads of households will receive the money. This provision would not benefit women currently employed by the federal or state government
