On July 15, 2022, a meeting was held at the Department of Tribal Welfare between the Council of Ministers and the scheme approved as Tripura Puno Baniya Yojana. As a name, Puno Banio means goat work. The main objective of the scheme was to provide funds to the tribal community of Tripura.

• Through this programme, unemployed youth are given the opportunity to earn income from goat rearing through sponsorship.

• To increase the income of tribals, a cash-linked goat keeper scheme can be implemented, where self-help group members get Rs 2,51,000 for a unit.
• Once the beneficiaries start receiving income, they can claim the income from this subsidy project through EMI.
• As part of this program, recipients will receive 12 goats-10 females and 2 males.
• There are nine months under this plan where no installments are required.
