Shri Charanjit Singh Channi, Chief Minister of Punjab, launched the Punjab Mera Ghar Mera Naam Scheme on 11th October. The scheme has been initiated to provide property rights to residents of houses under Laldora located in villages and towns Around 12700 villages will be covered under this scheme. Lal Dora is basically a village or town settlement consisting of a group of houses inhabited by its members.
The residents of Laldora did not have ownership rights but this plan would give them ownership rights. To this end, the treasury department will conduct research on drones for digital mapping of rural cities. The process for transfer of all property rights will be completed within 2 months

The main objective of the Punjab Mera Ghar Mera Naam Scheme is to provide property rights to the citizens living in Laldora of the village and town. Citizens who have lived in the houses for generations can then all have property rights so they can sell their property and even borrow money.
About 12,700 villages will be covered under this scheme. Other than that, citizens who have lived on the old site for a long time will be covered under this policy. The Punjab government is going to issue title deeds to property owners under the scheme which will serve as their proof of property ownership.
