Benefits And Features Of Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana
Government of Sikkim has launched Sikkim Poor Housing Scheme. Under this scheme, flats have been provided to the beneficiaries. It is a fully state-sponsored program. This arrangement will provide dignified accommodation for urban dwellings.
The scheme will be implemented by the Urban Development Department of the Government of Sikkim. The first phase of this plan will be implemented in 2021-25. Under the first phase, all eligible beneficiaries will be provided with houses.

The department has set a target of building 3,050 houses by March 31, 2022 but the government is all set to complete the project early due to delays due to territorial constraints About 100 homes have been distributed in 32 districts so far A total of 2100 Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana houses have been completed
Coverage Under Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana
- All these statutory towns as per the census of 2011 will be covered under this scheme
- That house that will be constructed or acquired under this scheme should be under the name of the female head of the family or in the joint name of the male head of the household and his wife
- If there is no adult female member in the family then the house can be in the name of the male member of the house
- The inclusion of the name of a female head of the household shall be ensured by valid registered title or ownership documents

The beneficiary should be a holder of SSC/COI/RC The beneficiary shall not hold a hired house in any part of India or in his own name The applicant must not have availed of any other construction scheme of the Government of India or the Government of Sikkim Applicants should have an annual household income not exceeding Rs 6 lakh
The beneficiary family does not have to be a regular government employee The applicant is required to submit an affidavit of self-declaration sworn before the licensee takes an oath of eligibility to avail benefits under the scheme
