ADITI Scheme Objective
In the suggested timeframe, it seeks to produce roughly thirty deep-tech critical and strategic technologies. The creation of a Technology Watch Tool is another goal, aimed at bridging the capabilities of the military innovation ecosystem with the demands and expectations of the contemporary armed forces.
The Indian Army (3), the Indian Navy (5), the Indian Air Force (5), and the Defence Space Agency (4) have all launched 17 challenges in the maiden edition of ADITI.
ADITI Scheme Implementation
Rajnath Singh said the most important step for self-sufficiency is to “maintain state-of-the-art defense technology as state-of-the-art technology is widely used in modern warfare He said that we can manufacture technology through our own resources making or downloading the latest products from other countries. The government is pursuing both these strategies.
As part of the offset, we use Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to buy technology from various countries. But because countries never share their most recent innovations, we are thus unable to access the best technologies.
For this reason, we need to build the necessary technology ourselves. For this we need research and development (R&D). Several requirements need to be fulfilled to create a productive R&D environment. India has a lot of young entrepreneurs who are eager to enhance the country’s technological capabilities.
ADITI Scheme Significance
Singh emphasised the government’s goal of achieving self-reliance as soon as it took office and stated that the country cannot continue to rely on the import of platforms and weapons since doing so might be disastrous for strategic autonomy.
According to him, India cannot make autonomous decisions on international matters that are consistent with its national interests if it lacks self-reliance. Only when our people manufacture the weapons and equipment in India can we retain our strategic autonomy.
